Costume Designer

Michelle Volberg, a D.C. native fell in love with fabric and clothing at the ripe age of three.

This relationship originates from her grandmother, a dressmaker, who used to create makeshift beds of bolts of silk for Michelle’s childhood afternoon siestas in her Grandmothers dress store in Georgetown. Michelle’s youthful fondness for esthetics blossomed into a love of drawing and painting- eventual pursuits in fashion design. After receiving her B.F.A. in Fashion at Parson’s School of Design, Michelle worked as a sleepwear designer for Joe Boxer. She then moved to high end Designer Zac Posen’s firm, designing Embroidery for his collections. After a fruitful jaunt in the NY fashion industry Michelle returned to D.C. and is pursuing her Masters in International commerce and trade policy, with hopes to establish best practices for design production globally with an aim towards sustainable materials, and development. In addition Michelle continues to pursue her passion for holistic daily practices, developing her personal yoga/meditation practice, as she shares it with others as a certified yoga teacher. Her work on Orange Juice in Bishops Garden, was inspired by her colorful past growing up in Washington D.C., and also by her collaborative creative work with OJBG series creator, Otessa Ghadar- a lifelong friend and fellow “Creative”.
