Hello All, Corpsman Shane Gordon US Navy here. I have been assigned recruiting duty here, in Washington DC for 2 years now, but now this assignment is coming to a close and I’m shipping out to a new assignment on a new ship very soon. This Capital City has been a strange sea to navigate these past 2 years. It is safe to say living here has changed me. When first I arrived in the Capital, I had just came back from spending the better part of 4 years in a ship traveling all over the Pacific and Indian Oceans. Serving as a medic on board, I saw more than my fair share of nasty injuries, mostly accidental…mostly… There was this one morning, back when I was on ship, everyone was preparing to cast off and head back out to sea. A few Boatswains mates were hoisting supplies up on to the ship, when suddenly the cable (which was way too thin, who the FUCK thought that was a good idea???) broke, dropping hundreds of pounds of supplies. Between the three men, there were 8 broken bones and 9 missing teeth; that was a wild and bloody morning. Me and Chief acted quick to stabilize the men. We sent them to Navy National Medical, fixed them up good, and now, from what I hear, they feel wonderful…mostly…
Ah…It was a simpler time…
